Rain pours down on a Friday afternoon on the field as left fielder Faith Schmidt eyes her opponent. Adrenaline pumps through her viens, as she waits for the pitcher to make her move.
“I can do this” she says in her head.
On March 4 at Central Junior High School, the Lady Wildcats came home with a proud victory against the Lady Greenwood Bulldogs, with a score of 9-0. Starting off the season with a victory has brought high spirits to everyone on the team and has led to hopes of a greater season to come for the Lady Wildcats. Although the game was a great success, the weather conditions on that day caused a few obstacles during the game for some of the players.
“It was extremely cold and hard to concentrate during the game becuase it continued to pour down on the field,” said Schmidt, the left fielder.
One of the highlights during the start off game was junior Hannah Bender’s incredible pitch fever which boosted the amount of K’s the Lady Wildcats added to the books.
With the win last Friday, long hours of practices, and exceptional players on the Lady Wildcat softball team, many see a possible victory for this upcoming Friday’s tournment in Benton, Arkansas.
