The third annual Har-Ber Holiday Basketball Tournament was held on Dec 27-29, 2010 and featured 12 games. The event was held at Har-Ber High School, and featured eight teams from different areas: Lakeview Centennial, Searcy, Clear Brook, Fayetteville, Tulsa Union, Springdale, and Har-Ber.
The intense tournament between the eight teams ended with Lakeview Central claiming the championship trophy.
Toddrick Gotcher from Lakeview Central was selected as the tournament MVP.
One of the main highlights of the tournament was the clash of the Wildcats and Springdale Bulldogs. The Wildcats fought hard and played out a great game at the start of playoff, but suffered a lost to the Bulldogs with a score of 76-52.
” I think we should have come out with more intensity. I was disappointed and thought we could beat them. The Bulldogs had more of an advantage because they were a lot bigger than us, which prevented us from doing a lot of things on the court,” said senior Jason Holmstrom.
Although the Wildcats experienced a 63-54 loss against Conway, fans and players are hopeful for next tournament, to make the state playoffs and increase the intensity for the rest of the season to come.
“I’m looking forward to us, as a team coming together and to buy into the coach’s system. The only way we can win games is to listen and stay disciplined. Also I’m wanting to make the state playoffs, but not just to make it, but to win,” said junior point guard Charles Means.
