The King available now on Netflix

The King is a Netflix original, two hour and twenty-minute movie

starring Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson. The movie focuses on King Henry V coming to reign over England, and his

struggles with the ruling of the country. I am personally a big fan of Timothée Chalamet and have seen many of his movies just because he is in them, and this

movie was no exception.

I really enjoyed The King and this was mostly because it was a little different than your average period piece. A lot of period pieces have a big focus around romance, and The King had very little. This was very refreshing to watch, and it made the movie that much more enjoyable.

There was a substantial amount of gore but it wasn’t very bothersome. However, I do have a strong stomach for that kind of stuff. The final battle scene was one of the most

realistic ones I have ever seen. It was a bunch of soldiers flopping around in mud, all crammed together, trying to kill one another. Along with the realism of the battle scenes, many of the characters and wardrobe were quite realistic. The characters looked gross and sickly, which is to be expected in the fifteenth century. The disgustingness offered another fresh facet to the movie.

Along with the beautiful

cinematography, the side characters were given much-needed

attention. The story behind King Henry’s wingman was quite

interesting, and it added an

emotional aspect to the story that softened the movie as a whole. That feature was unexpected and made the movie much more light-hearted than it was probably meant to be.
