To be completely honest with you my friends, I was nervous to see this movie. The first movie was, well, shaky, and I mean literally. With film work that attempted to let the viewers feel as if they were right there running along side with Kantiss, it however the only effect that it had was the queasy feeling of throwing up the much consumed popcorn and Coke.
But I still had hope in the series. Being one of those kids who read the books before even thinking about seeing the movie, my expectations are high to begin with.
And on November 21, 2013 at 11:15 in the packed theatre, I was simply blown away. My expectations looked as if they were from a child.
The film work, costumes, music, acting, script, choreographers, everything was simply blissful. I am beyond impressed with this work.
First, lets talk about the film work. It was fantastic. Every shot and angle revealed everything, the sweat, blood, dirty, and every single pore. It was beautiful. You could see everything. There was no shaken filming, yet you still got the effect of being there right with them.
The costumes (makeup and hair included) were stunning. The way they created the Capital people was right on the spot. The out of this world outfits with over dramatic makeup and hair fit the expectations on the nose. Effie, oh man, her costumes were so amazing. The fact that they painted on one of her dress so that it would be as crazy as the character in the book, I am impressed.
The soundtrack for this movie is filled with Of Monsters and Men, Christina Aguilera, Coldplay, Lorde, and Imagine Dragons were only a couple of artist that took my breathe away. In my opinion, music is a huge factor of creating a film more dramatic, and the music that they put in this movie created just that. Bravo is all I can say about it.
The acting was eccentric. Jennifer Lawrence portrayed Kantiess Everdeen just as I envisioned her. Josh Hutcherson, though I had my doubts in the beginning, impressed me by the fact he is actually a really good Peeta Mellark. Simply by the audiences retracted to Sam Claflin playing Finnick Odair, we can say we (the viewers) were extremely pleased. And may I say shirts aren’t your things. Elizabeth Banks played Effie Trinket took the character and became her. I mean I was utterly surprised by how well she portrayed her. Jena Malone, wow, you hit Johanna Mason on the nail. Your acting skills were amazing. I am impressed. Oh, Haymitch, Haymitch, Haymitch, Woody Harrelson portrayed you so well, you drunken man.
The script was awesome. Every word struck my heart. Lets just take a moment and take in the wonderful quotes that we are no able to use forever. “Remember who the real enemy is.” “If you die and I live, there’s no life for me at all back in District 12. You’re my whole life. I would never be happy again.’’ Lets not forget the infamous line, “May the odds be ever in your favor.” Brings tears to my eyes.
The choreography was crazy. Every fight scene had me on the seat. Though I know they aren’t actually hurting each other, oh man did they look like they were. Every movement had a clear purpose, and it was clear, sharp, and meaningful.
Last but not least, the special effects were awesome. For example, the fact that not a single building in the capital was a like made it more realistic, Kantiess’ wedding dress was all special effects when she twirled around it became her mockingjay dress. May I say that it was AWESOME! The special effects were awesome! I am so pleased.
All together, this movie was amazing. It was so close to the book and how everything was suppose to go, I was blown away. I never seen a movie be so close to the movie. So if you are wondering if you should go see this movie, you should. It will change you life. Till the Mockingjay part one midnight premiere, may the odds be ever in your favor.
