Oct. 7, the boys golf team traveled to North Little Rock’s, “The Greens at Southern Hills”, to participate in the State Tournament. The end of the first day left junior Eric Ogle, shooting a 112, junior Josh Benford with a 107, junior Ian Mohorn with a 107, senior Matthew Philpot with a 106, and senior Nick Hancock with a 87. The team total was a 294, leaving Har-Ber in 13th out of 16 teams total. Only the top 8 teams continue on to the next day, eliminating Har-Ber from any chance of progressing.
Fortunately for Hancock, the tournament takes the next top 8 scores from the participants not apart of the teams advancing to the next day. This means Hancock was able to play again on October 8. Hancock finished with a score of 92 for the second day.
“I did okay the first day but then had a tough second day. My goal was to get all state, but my bad second round shot me out of it, I feel like the whole team could have played a lot better,” said Hancock.
