Stranger Things

With an ingenious mix of genres, Netflix series Stranger Things has captured the attention of many mystery and sci-fi lovers. It has pulled in a variety of ages as an audience, keeping everyone entertained and curious. Although only one season has been released in the past year, fans already crave more jump scares. Unfortunately, eight forty-five minute episodes just aren’t enough to quench the thirst.

While Stranger Things is a type of show in which you find yourself unable to detach your eyes from the television screen, it still has its let downs. For example, more often than not, it is a very predictable show. If you’re the type who loves a good plot twist, Stranger Things might be a disappointment in that aspect. You have to be able to relate to the humor the show offers and tolerate unrealistic scenarios, which is unquestionably why the series is classified as science fiction. If you don’t find yourself preoccupied by supernatural creatures and activity, it might be suggested you stick to fawning over Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy.

On the other hand, I find Stranger Things to be, undoubtedly, one of Netflix’s biggest hits. Set in 1983, the first season is based around finding missing kid, Will Byer. His young friends, a rather adventurous bunch, his anxious mother, and chief of police, will stop at nothing to find Will. While Will Byer is one of the main focuses, many other affairs factor into the series that spawn feelings of angst and excitement. One of the factors that spark some of these feelings is the adorable, yet outcast girl, Eleven. While Will’s friends are out searching for him, they stumble upon her and became instantly fascinated by the powers she possesses, which they’ve only ever dreamed of becoming a reality.

This Netflix original is a definite need-to-watch. I believe it to be a well-casted production, even with some unfamiliar or lesser known faces in the acting world. For anyone who enjoys a mysterious yet appealing type of series, I highly suggest switching to Netflix and pressing play on Stranger Things.
