As I stood 30 yards from Lana Del Rey while still being able to hear Iggy Azalea performing “Fancy” in the distance, I made a decision that Austin City Limits is a slightly ridiculous, more inappropriate version of heaven on earth. Despite the ironic and continuous pot smoking done by the majority of the people in a labeled “smoke free” park, I had the most sublime time imaginable.
Austin City Limits hosts a huge music festival that has been around since 1976. Austin is the more than accommodating host of these music events. The actual festival is located at Zilker Park, where about 80,000 people are crowded onto 46 acres of land.
The fact that this ridiculous number of people who come from all over the nation are put in the same small place for 3 days just to obsess over the same music is mind blowing to me.
Honestly, concerts are the greatest thing ever because everyone comes together and enjoys good music and good food.
You escape from the real world for a little bit, no stress, no worry, just a bunch of people at the same place as you, having just as much fun as you are. You get to meet people from every corner of the nation; you make new friends while enjoying the company of your old friends as well.
Artists like Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Eminem, Sam Smith, and so many others made for a weekend that was something of a dream. I cannot imagine going another year without attending Austin City Limits.
