Everyone hates taking tests, right? They’re long and tedious and can ruin your grade if you haven’t studied. So why in the world would teachers give students a test on a Monday?
We’ve just come back from the weekend, whether it was amazing and awesome or super boring, students have most likely forgotten to study.
Now don’t get me wrong. I totally understand how teachers have to plan out their schedules and stick to them, so they are at the same pace as the other teachers in their department, and I understand that they have to prepare us for our finals and EOC’s but seriously?
A Monday test is loathed by everyone.
There are several reasons why teachers should not give tests to students on Monday. Obvious ones would be that students worked the whole weekend and are tired. Or they had church on Sunday. But what about these so called “excuses” that aren’t so obvious, such as a family emergency.
Or what about last minute family functions that no one bothered to tell you about but you’re still forced to go?
And then what about when you get to school and you remember about your test? You go through the whole day stressing out trying to plan when you’re going to study for it. Then you lose focus in your other classes with the teachers that were gracious enough to not give you a Monday test.
This is why Monday tests are so ridiculous. And when students don’t do well on the test and our grades drop, parents get mad. Then the parents are mad at the students and the teachers for giving the test. Teachers should not give tests on Monday. They should give the test on Tuesday and review the material Monday.
