Recent tweets directed towards students and some faculty members have gotten most
@HBHS_Unofficial followers rolling around dying with laughter. With the talk of
pregnant teenagers or other scandals these posts have students, who have twitter accounts, wanting more. This even includes me.
Some of the things posted by @HBHS_Unofficial founders are truly hilarious and almost
always true (or at least have a ring of truth to them).
One of the reasons I really enjoyed reading the tweets made by @HBHS_Unofficial is because they were so funny. Being anonymous made the tweets real and honest. Truthfully, some of the things that @HBHS_Unofficial posted were things other students were thinking but never had the guts to say without an alias to protect them.
I also really liked how @HBHS_Unofficial didn’t limit their tweets to just one to person or just one topic. They tweeted about whatever was on their minds. It was new and refreshing.
While I did find @HBHS_Unofficial’s tweets humorous and refreshing, I also found some posts to be extremely offensive and racist. There’s a reason that @HBHS_Unofficial keeps their identity secret. It’s extremely risky to be so brutally honest and not suffer the repercussions for what they say. It’s no wonder that the authors of these posts never put their names on it.
While I support the free speech of those who create Twitter accounts and I find the content of the “unofficial” Twitter funny, there’s a line that is sometimes crossed that is not appropriate. I appreciate the truth. I understand wanting to have a voice. But not at the expense of others.
