The advancement of technology has not stopped when it comes to school. From the simplicities of the calculator, to mobile labs and other computers, technology is all around our school.
Technology has a heavy impact on students’ work habits. Cell phones take students’ attention away from listening to their teacher. Rather they focus on the last text they got right before class.
Calculators also cause disruption due to the fact students are playing games instead of doing their math or science homework, causing grades to drop.
With the help of computers, plagiarism is becoming more common. Students are not coming up with their own words. They are merely copying and pasting. Computers offer more ways for students to get out of doing their work with “help sites” that write papers for them.
Technology has slowed the learning process in our school. I believe the advancements in technology have lead to lower grades and more cheating and plagiarizing.
Although new technology provides teachers and students new learning opportunities, it is ultimately hurting grades due to the rules. Students would be better off doing work by hand and coming from their own minds.
