The activity bell rings and students rush down the halls eagerly to get to their club meetings. Many clubs have been added to the already long list of options, and now a Fashion Club makes the chart.
The Fashion Club was founded by 2011 senior Ramone Lewis. The club was started in the second semester of April 2011. The Fashion Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month in English teacher Elizabeth Roger’s room, B-203. Being a fairly new club, attendance started out with low numbers.
“The club is extending,” said Lewis. “We have at least 30 members now.”
At the meetings, the club members discuss philanthropy, fundraising, and other charity work. The club’s discussion isn’t only limited to fashion. They also talk about cosomotology.
“We are thinking about doing a clothing drive for charity. We’ll set up boxes in the rotunda and take old clothes,” said junior club member Sydney Mick.
Many participants in the Fashion Club desire careers in fashion. The club is a great opportunity for them to learn more about the trade.
“I love fashion. It’s a good opportunity and you get to make great new friends,” said junior Constance Sananikone.
The leadership in the Fashion Club consists of the sponsor, Miss Rogers, and the current president, Ramone Lewis. The club members are planning on having an election to gain a vice president as well as other positions. The Fashion Club is more than just a meeting for these students, it’s an opportunity for them to learn, to make friends, and to express themselves.
“It means a lot,” said Lewis. “It’s the first year I get to show my colors and discover my potential.”
