Much like the Evening of the Arts that took place last year, there will be a showcase of the Arts this year, held on April 23 at Gymnastic Joes in the NWA Mall. The showcase, which will last from 6-10pm, will feature over 14 programs including EAST, Theatre, Advertising and design, culinary arts, and much more!
The event has changed several ways from last year to this one. First of all, it will be held in the mall instead of in the Har-Ber Cafeteria.
“We want to have it at the mall to get more community involvement. It also makes it more convenient for other members of the community that might not otherwise be aware of it if it was at school,” said Art teacher Mrs. Vicki Delozier.
Unlike last year, there will be many other programs represented, not just the Art program. In addition to this, student work from both schools, Har-ber and Springdale High school, will be on display. This way, members of the community will be able to enjoy art from the finest artists in the Springdale School district as a whole.
“The two high schools are uniting to showcase the student work from all of their various departments,” said Mrs. Delozier.
A disappointment for some, will be the fact that this year’s Showcase of the Arts, unlike lastyear’s will not have any food.
“The food takes a lot more organization,” said Mrs. Delozier.
However, hungry attendees should not find this to be too much of a problem as the location is not far from the mall food court.
Apart from the fun it will be, it will also go far to supporting programs from both high schools.
“People should come to support the students and all the hard work they’ve done throughout the year,” said Mrs. Delozier.
