The sound of the tardy bell lingers in the hallway as students hurriedly rush into their classrooms. First period has just begun, and senior Dalton Galloway is sitting in the back of the room listening to today’s lesson in Mr.Pitman’s class.
As class progresses, the booming sound of the intercom announces it’s cap and gown pickups for seniors. Many thoughts go through the senior’s head as he gets up and approaches the door, and realizes that this was a sign of the beginning of his life.
April 1 marks the date for senior cap and gown pickup and many students graduating have come to a conclusion that their cap and gown signified something great in their life.
” Thinking about the great times I’ve had in high school really made me feel as if it was too short, but I’ve come to realize that after school an exciting experience is waiting for me and that I’m prepared for my adult life in college and in the real world,” said senior J.J. Mason.
Although some seniors are prepared for their future, some beg to differ.
“When I look at this cap and gown that I will be wearing on my graduation, one word comes to mind and that’s freedom. I’ve labored hard in school and now it’s my chance to experience life as an official adult,” said senior Liz Ellenbarger.
“As I’m waiting in line for my cap and gown, I’m thinking graduation is so close and that I couldn’t even be happier about it, but I see it as an accomplishment, like I’m finally done with high school and I’veĀ put 110% in what I’ve done; now it’s just up to me to make sure that I’m putting the same effort into my college and adult life,” said senior Cailey Blalock.
