The Ryleigh Factor

Ryleigh Mullican is a member of the Silver Stars, on the debate team, and now the STUCO President. Mullican, a senior, was offered the position before the year started.

Though this was not the position that she originally applied for, it is what she got. She applied to be vice-president and received that position in the beginning.

Then something came up with the first chosen president, and it all came down to Mullican. She was asked to be president and she accepted.

“I texted Ryleigh and I asked if she’d be willing to step up, and she immediately was like ‘yes.’ And so she’s been great ever since,” STUCO sponsor Rachel Claire Cockrell said.

Many teenagers don’t know or have even the slightest view on what they are going to do in the future, but Mullican does and is viewed by her teachers and peers as well put together, and a great leader.

“She just really has her stuff together,” Cockrell said.

Mullican has plans of making the school a more comfortable environment for everyone.

She wants to bring more school spirit and make school a place where kids are able to succeed.

She has a vision for the school and she believes she will be able to carry that out.

“If you know what you’re doing with yourself then it’s easier to help other people out and lead them,” Cockrell said.

One of Mullican’s goals is to be a great motivator for many. She sees herself as charismatic and believes she will definitely bring about great changes to the year, and a more positive vibe to school.

Being STUCO president, there are going to be some hard choices to make and wonderful new opportunities to explore.

While getting to know the new president and talking to people around the school, many have positive opinions.

“I’ve known her since sixth grade. She is a good person,” senior Rally Maller said.

Despite the unexpected move from vice-president to president, Mullican has continued to give her best effort.

“I’m really excited she decided to step and do it and I know it wasn’t originally planned on but she’s really done a good job already,” Cockrell said.
