On May 21 senior Jacob Davies will take the stage in Bud Walton Arena and stand in front of the crowd of the class of 2011 and their family and friends. Davies is the senior class council president and will deliver the senior speech at graduation.
“It is just a great privledge to be get this once in a life time opportunity to represent our class at graduation,” said Davies.
Davies has been using the year to develop and create his speech. Davies has used past resources to build his speech.
“I took a class last summer over business and public speaking,” said Davies. “I did not take the class for this specific purpose, but it will be a great help to delivering the speech.”
Davies looked at this opportunity as inspiration itself for his speech.
“It is something I will never be able to do again. I want to use the opportunity to pretty much write itself,” said Davies.
For Davies this is not just about the speech, it also about being part of the school. Every single senior class council president of the school gets their picture hung up in the rotunda with a plaque beneath with their name and the class they served.
“It is such an honor to be able to be a part of the history of the school,” he said. “When people look at the picture, I will be the person who represents our class.”
With the speech and his picture in the rotunda, Davies plans on using this experience as a way of branding himself to the school.
“It just shows me that even when I leave this school I will still be a Har-Ber Wildcat,” said Davies.
