A surge of bodies threw me against the railing at the front of the stage. Elbows flung sporadically to the pulse of the music. Speakers blared, pumping the bass into my heart like blood. The flashing lights that would normally give me a 5 hour migraine flitted through the night sky, illuminating the screaming fans.
Despite the chaos going on around me, I was completely focused on the incredible human being in front of me, Mark Foster, lead singer of Foster the People. Standing in the front row, it was like he was singing to me, only me, and it was incredible.
I danced, screamed, and cried for the 3 hours that I was in the venue, listening to Soko, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Foster. This would have never been a possibility last year, the AMP put Arkansas on the map.
For so long I had complained about how nothing but country music bands came to NWA, but with this concert, I am assured that this is about to change. Not that country music is bad, but it’s just not my thing.
Over the course of this past year, the Walmart AMP has hosted Darius Rucker, Santana, The Avett Brothers, Willie Nelson, Blake Shelton, Foreigner, Jake Owen, Boston, Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert, and Dierks Bentley.
Despite the severe thunderstorms that put the concert on halt, I could easily say that this was one of the best nights of my life. I will definitely be returning to the AMP.
