After finishing the novel “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” I was extremely excited to find out that a movie was being made for it. The book was amazing, so I anticipated that the movie would be as well. After weeks of waiting, I will finally get the chance to find out.
The movie was released Sept. 21, but to my demise, only in select theaters. Well that’s just great. So to see the movie, I’d have to travel halfway around the world and spend a bunch of money for an hour and 43 minute movie. While it is worth every penny, I, nor anyone else, have the time to drive to another state to watch the movie. Now, it is finally being released in theaters closer than California.
While I’m tremendously happy that they are finally showing the movie in other theaters, it’s aggravating to me that the movie was only showing in select theaters. Why couldn’t they show it in all theaters like they do almost every other movie released? What makes California so special that it was the only place getting to show “The Perks of Being a Wallflower?” Hey big shot Hollywood people, did you forget about us Arkansans or all of the other people that make up the U.S.?
After weeks of anxiously waiting, fans of the book, including myself, can buy our $9 ticket, $10 popcorn, and sit ourselves down in front of the big screen and find out if the movie will live up to the expectations.
It will be begin showing Oct. 12 at 12 p.m at the Razorback Theater in Fayetteville.
