Coach Shyrah Schisler stands on the court and jolts her body, as if she were in the game. She is alongside the team, on her feet at all times, leading them and interacting every play of the game. Her aspiration to be in the coaching position came about after growing up with coaches who poured time and energy into all aspects of her life.

“The most rewarding thing about coaching is seeing your kids gain confidence on and off the court. They learn so many lessons in athletics,” said Schisler.

Schisler’s passion for the game, her job, and her players is evident.

“I try to live everyday to its fullest so I want to give everything I have each day. I also want the girls to succeed, and it’s so exciting when they do,” said Schisler.

Her enthusiasm on and off the court is something her players respect, and makes them want to work even harder for.

“Her passion about the game gives us players something to feed off of. She gives us 100% to us, so we give 100% back to her,” said senior Bailey Baxendale.

Schiller’s fiery energy makes the girls fired up, and her devotion to her team was assured every game.

“Coach will fight for us. I can’t tell you how many times she has gotten a yellow card or argued with the refs over a bad call. She always has our back,” said senior Emily Thompson.

With her passion for being a coach rooted deep from her own experiences, Schisler has impacted her players in more ways than just on the court.

“She’s the best coach I have ever had. She challenges me to be a better player, and a better person. I owe a good amount of my future success to her,” said Baxendale.

The team completed the season in the State championship game, losing to Fayetteville in the 5th game, but bringing home a state runner-up trophy showed the passion and perseverance of this team.

“I am so proud, the girls grew each day of the season. They learned to be tough and grow from the good and bad experiences each day,” said Schisler.
