Lights! Camera! Action! This April, Har-Ber’s drama and choir classes are bringing us another great performance, this year’s music review.
“You prepare for this just like any other audition. You pick your song, spend your time rehearsing and learning your song, and I try and rest my voice as much as possible,” said sophomore Abby Jackson.
Every other year, the drama and choir teachers decide which production of a musical or musical review to put on for the school and all of the students. This year, being an off year, the arts department has decided to do put on a musical review.
“Theater students are usually in the background in the dance numbers, they audition just like all of the choir students if they want too,” said senior Turner Mckraken.
Last year’s production of Shrek the Musical was a big hit with both the students who were participating in the show and with those who went to go see it. This year’s review hopes to be just as successful.
“Theater students who don’t want to get on stage and usually work backstage with sets or hair and makeup,” said Mckraken.
However, with the time crunch this year, the scheduled rehearsals are more tightly packed and there is less time to practice than usual. All of the students and teachers involved hope to make it in time, but there are some concerns.
“I’m really excited to be more involved in the theater at Har-Ber,” said Jackson.
Because of the number of seniors in the show, the production has to be ready before May 1 when the seniors are leaving school. In the past there has been on average two weeks more time than what is available this year.
